Please support a unique and exciting opportunity for our island community to experience the beauty of the scenic Ka Iwi coastline at a runner’s and/or walker’s pace.
Date: Sunday, November 20, 2016
Race Start: 6:45 a.m.
Description: The annual Ka Iwi Coast Run & Walk is a community oriented 4-mile journey along the famous Ka Iwi coast scenic highway. The event begins at Awawamalu (known as Sandy Beach) with the rise of the sun over the Kaiwi Channel, a Hawaiian oli (chant) and the blowing of the pu (conch) shell.
Course: Starting at Awawamalu (known as Sandy Beach), the course continues around the Ka Iwi coastline, passes Halona and Hanauma Bay and finishes at the Hui Nalu Canoe Club on the shores of Maunalua Bay.
Uniqueness: This is the only pedestrian race sanctioned for this area of O‘ahu. This special setting allows the race organizers to carefully craft an event that advocates for the pristine, untouched gifts of this coast.
Great Gifts: All participants receive a commemorative glass fishing float, race shirt and packet with discounts to local retail businesses. At the end of your journey, enjoy the light refreshments and awards presentation, and meet community organizations sharing their missions.
Shuttle Service: Free shuttle service provided to the starting line from Hawaii Kai Park and Ride.
Mahalo: Proceeds benefit Hui Nalu Canoe Club programs and supports the mission of the Ka Iwi Coalition and Livable Hawaii Kai Hui. Hui Nalu Canoe Club is a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
