Race Details

The annual Kaiwi Coast Run & Walk is a community oriented journey of approximately 4-miles along the famous Kaiwi Coast scenic highway on the island of O‘ahu, Hawai‘i. It is the only pedestrian race sanctioned for this area.

​Awawamalu (Sandy Beach Park)

The event begins with the sunrise over the Kaiwi Chanel, a Hawaiian oli (chant) and the blowing of the pu (conch shell horn).


The course starts at Awawamalu (Sandy Beach), continues around the Kaiwi coastline, passes Halona and Hanauma Bay, goes over the pedestrian overpass at Kalanianaole Highway and Lunalilo Home Road and finishes at the Hui Nalu Canoe Club on the shores of Maunalua Bay. Failure to go over the pedestrian overpass will result in disqualification.

Awāwāmalu (Sandy Beach)  - near park bathrooms – Run number pickup only. Goodie bags at halau (finish line) on a first come, first served basis. Goodie bag and T-shirt size not guaranteed!  See directions.

Participant Parking

Hawaii Kai Towne Center Executive Plaza and Costco have kindly offered parking to Kaiwi Coast Run & Walk participants.

  • All participants are asked to be out of the parking lot by 9:30am as a courtesy to Costco and their patrons.

  • Parking by City Mill, Ross, and Raising Cane's are limited to the first row of the parking lot.

  • Participant parking is allowed in green outlined section only.

Free Race Shuttle

Pre-race shuttles will run from the Hawaii Kai Park N Ride to the Start Line at Sandy Beach Park from 4:45 to 5:45am.

Post-race there will be one bus heading back to Sandy Beach Park at or around 8:00-8:15am. Listen to announcements on race day for the exact time.

Shuttle Rules

  • No dogs allowed on the shuttles. See dog guidelines.

  • The buses will accommodate strollers.

  • Do not wait to be on the last shuttle!

Kula 100 Package

  • Champagne brunch at Roy’s Hawaii Kai on Sunday, November 19, 2023,  from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  Brunch includes: scrambled eggs, bacon, Portuguese sausage, roasted herb potatoes, fruit platter, banana & berry pancakes, Lup Cheong Fried Rice, and Monte Cristos!! Brownies and miniature macadamia nut tarts will be featured for dessert, along with coffee and tea. 

  • Exclusive packet pickup at Scratch Kitchen Hawaii Kai on Saturday, November 18 between 1:00- 3:00pm. 

  • Kaiwi Coast Run & Walk entry, with souvenir glass fishing float & event t-shirt. 

  • Special Kula 100 event t-shirt, in addition to the regular event t-shirt. 

  • Special goodie bag that includes a $25 gift certificate to Roy’s Hawaii Kai

How to Register

Online Registration


Service fee applies. With online registration you can order Kaiwi Coast Run & Walk souvenirs.  This year’s items include a hat and a long sleeve tri-blend t-shirt.


Mail Registration


Entry form and fee must be received by October 31. Make check or money order payable to Hui Nalu Canoe Club Time Line Hawaii, 336 N. Kuakini #121, Honolulu, HI 96817.

Packet Pickup Locations

Packet pickups are conveniently located in Aiea, Hawaii Kai, Kahala, and Kaneohe or at Awāwāmalu (Sandy Beach Park) on Race Day. 



  • KEIKI 12 YEARS OLD & UNDER: $10 off through race day.

  • SENIOR 65 YEARS AND OLDER: $10 off through race day.

  • ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY: $5 off through race day. Does not apply to keiki, senior, Kula or Hui Nalu entries.

  • HUI NALU CLUB MEMBER: $5 off through October 31, 2023. Must have 2023 dues paid in full. Includes a discount for the whole family.  See your coach for discount code for online registration.

  • Discounts do not apply to the Kula 100 package and cannot be combined.



  • At packet pickup you will receive a beautiful commemorative glass fishing float, an event t-shirt*, a goodie bag, and coupons or goodies from local sponsors. All goodies are while supplies last. Any unsold logo wear (event hats or long sleeve shirts) will also be available to buy at packet pickup.

  • At the Finish Line you will be able to enjoy light refreshments, e.g. water, fruit, and cookies. There will also be booths from local non-profits and some of our sponsors.

* We do our best to get you the size t-shirt that you request. However, shirt sizes are not guaranteed.



  • Awards will be available at the finish line gathering area by 8 a.m.

  • Awards are given to the top 3 overall men and women, and five-year age divisions from 10 years & under through 85+ years.

  • Age divisions are as follows: Under 10, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85+
