Race Details

The annual Kaiwi Coast Run & Walk is a community oriented journey of approximately 4-miles along the famous Kaiwi Coast scenic highway on the island of O‘ahu, Hawai‘i. It is the only pedestrian race sanctioned for this area and limited to 3,000 entrants.

The event begins with the sunrise over the Kaiwi Channel, a Hawaiian oli (chant) and the blowing of the pū (conch shell horn).

 

The course starts at Awāwāmalu (Sandy Beach), continues around the Kaiwi coastline, passes Hālona and Hanauma Bay, goes over the pedestrian overpass at Kalanianaʻole Highway and Lunalilo Home Road and finishes at the Hui Nalu Canoe Club on the shores of Maunalua Bay. Failure to go over the pedestrian overpass will result in disqualification.

Awāwāmalu (Sandy Beach)  - near park bathrooms – Run number pickup only. Goodie bags at hālau (finish line) on a first come, first served basis. Goodie bag and T-shirt size not guaranteed!  See directions.

Participant Parking

Hawaii Kai Towne Center Executive Plaza and Costco have kindly offered parking to Kaiwi Coast Run & Walk participants.

  • All participants are asked to be out of the parking lot by 9:30am as a courtesy to Costco and their patrons.

  • Parking by City Mill, Ross, and Raising Cane's are limited to the first row of the parking lot.

  • Participant parking is allowed in green outlined section only.

Free Race Shuttle

Pre-race shuttles will run from the Hawaii Kai Park N Ride to the Start Line at Awāwāmalu Beach Park from 4:45 to 5:45am.

Post-race there will be one bus heading back to Awāwāmalu Beach Park at or around 8:00-8:15am. It will depart from Maunalua Bay near the finish line.

Listen to announcements on race day for the exact time.

Shuttle Rules

  • No dogs allowed on the shuttles. See dog guidelines.

  • The buses will accommodate strollers.

  • Do not wait to be on the last shuttle!

How to Register

Online Registration

DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 10

Service fee applies. With online registration you can order Kaiwi Coast Run & Walk souvenirs.  This year’s item is a super soft TriBlend long-sleeve lightweight T-shirt.

Mail Registration

DEADLINE: OCTOBER 31

Entry form and fee must be received by October 31. Make check or money order payable to Hui Nalu Canoe Club Time Line Hawaii, 200 N. Vineyard Blvd Suite A325, Honolulu, HI 96817.

  • SENIOR 65 YEARS AND OLDER: $10 off through November 10.

  • ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY AND FIRST RESPONDERS: $5 off through November 10. Does not apply to keiki, senior, or Hui Nalu entries.

  • HUI NALU CLUB MEMBER: $5 off through October 31. Must have current year's dues paid in full. Includes a discount for the whole family.  See your coach for discount code for online registration.

  • Discounts do not apply to the Kula 100 brunch and cannot be combined.

All goodies are while supplies last. We do our best to get you the size T-shirt that you request. However, shirt sizes are not guaranteed.

  • At the Finish Line you will be able to enjoy light refreshments, e.g. water, fruit, and snacks. There will also be booths from local non-profits and some of our sponsors.
